Gallery 3b : Contemporary Chinese Art
Artists of Contemporary Chinese Art, unlike the work of other Chinese artists trained in traditional Chinese painting techniques, use age-old materials and techniques to comment on the life of modern Chinese artists. As the paintings reflect on the position of the artist in modern society, these artists are reinterpreting Chinese art traditions and aesthetics as well. Many of them redefine Chinese artistic values through the innovative use of ink, line, and color. Vibrant in color, subtle and astute without being silent, creators of our Contemporary Chinese Art adopt a critical attitude toward the relation between self and society.
